Interesting question. Took the following picture several years ago with an old Canon Powershot A40. In the Mojave desert near Ridgecrest CA, there’s an old mining tunnel 2000 foot long, cut from one end of a mountain to another through solid granite! This tunnel was dug/blasted single handedly by William Henry “Burro” Schmidt, and took 38 years of his life to accomplish. The tunnel is freely open to the public.
Although Burro Schmidt is no longer with us, could swear I caught him still digging in his tunnel. Take a close look at the following photo, just at the edge of the flash radius. Is that the figure of a man hunched over and digging? Or is it just the reflection of tunnel dust? You decide (really, it made me shiver when I first saw it):
